Global Director of Impact

 

 
This is an exciting opportunity to support the global growth of The Conduit by overseeing and enhancing our strategic approach to economic, social and environmental impact. The role will be instrumental in how we grow and develop our impact on a global scale, providing strategic leadership of our global impact strategy, development of key policies and approaches to measurement across Environment, Social & Governance (ESG) issues.
 
Working closely with colleagues at the Conduit Foundation (our grant-making arm), you’ll set our objectives, measure the impact we’re having, and contribute to making us as effective and impactful as possible. You’ll be tasked with developing our global strategy for impact, including a clear theory of change, which will be applicable across all our business and operational activities. One key objective will be that staff, directors and Conduit members across the globe understand and can clearly communicate our approach to impact, the progress we’ve made, and that they are able to identify and act on new opportunities. The result will be that you raise the Conduit’s global profile. and establish our reputation as a leading social purpose business.
 
Operationally, we will look to you to draft and embed best-in-class ESG policies across the whole Conduit ecosystem. This will include (but isn’t limited to) supply chain and procurement; modern slavery; sustainable buildings management; travel; governance; recruitment and remuneration; workplace culture; diversity, equity & inclusion. We’ll chart our progress against your overarching impact framework, and you’ll work closely with our COO and CFO to ensure we have the right systems and tools in place to make it happen. This may lead to exploring whether a structure such as the B-Corp model would be suitable for us.
 
Candidates will have an impressive global network, and are likely to have worked at a senior strategic level in a large, international NGO or corporate ESG function. Your understanding and experience should span a number of thematic areas (such as health, education, energy transition, micro-enterprise, or sustainable agriculture). But whatever your subject knowledge, you must additionally bring a sophisticated ability to operate at system level, and the technical skill to develop, oversee and evaluate high-impact grant programmes. With a deep personal commitment to social change, and a restless and inexhaustible determination to make as much of a difference as we can, you’ll make sure we never get too comfortable.
